So I Googled for "debugging addons" and saw that starting Firefox with the "-jsconsole" option was informative, so I did that.
When I opened the Textarea cache window, this appeared in the debugger window:
TypeError: temp is null cache.jsm:213
TypeError: cacheWindow is undefined cacheWindow.xul:1
I've no idea what that means or if it is any help.
Tried 0.9.2 on Firefox 29.0, Kubuntu 14.4.
Textarea Cach has thin dysfunctional drop-down menu. Nothing appears in its main window. See image.
0.8.11 still works fine.
Tried 0.9.2b. Sorry, it still does not work for me.
Reverted to 0.8.11 again.
Please try 0.9.2b:
Thank you for your report. I will fix it in 0.9.2.
I've just discovered that the textarea cache 0.9.1 ignores most of the posts that I make on reddit.com, and only saves about one in four. But strangely, it seems to work OK with other sites. I saw a review from somebody that said they had to revert to version 0.8.11, so I tried that, and 0.8.11 does indeed work fine for me, reliably saving all my posts.
So I've had to disable automatic add-on updates, which is unfortunate because I have many add-ons.
Since this was an intermittent fault with some posts being saved and others not, it's possible that there was a clash with one of my other addons. If you want me to do some debugging steps, I'm happy to do so, if you give me a clear enough guide.
Version 0.9.0.1 in Firefox 24.4.0 ESR.
Thank you for your fast reply and this invaluable extension.
Thank you, Elbart,
Would you please tell me your Textarea Cache version?
I am working on a new version which saves the cache to an external file instead of the preference. This will solve the console-spam problem.
Thank you again.
Renewing the bug-report of
and adding that additionally to the the message spam, the addon is now occassionally causing this error

This is the console-spam caused by writing this message:
Thanks Hemiola, 0.9.0.1 works perfect again, also the way the icon appears / disappears.
Good job, thumbs up!
